New Beginning!

It seems like yesterday, but it was really two years ago, when I first introduced this blog for the enjoyment of Pieces 'N Patches members and anyone else who wanted to see what our club was up to.  Now, 205 posts later, it is time to turn over the blog management duties to Mary Schopp, who I know will take it to unprecedented heights.  Thanks so much, Mary!

And thanks also to everyone who has "tuned in" for the last two years.  Best wishes, Carla

2009 - 2010 Program Calendar Available Now -------->

Just a quick post to draw your attention over to the calendar column on the right-hand side of the blog which now contains all the programs that have been scheduled for the next year.  Many thanks to Jeanette Strickert and Rosie Davis who have done an outstanding job getting our calendar filled so quickly.

Ninety-Nine!!

That's how many members Pieces 'N Patches has now, including our two newest members, Paula Stoddard (who as you know was our excellent February presenter) and Sally Wiser.  Welcome Ladies!  We're so glad to have you!

Special Message from Joe Ann Reaves

 

What a wonderful way for Pieces 'N Patches to celebrate the holidays!!  Our auction was super fantastic in every way.   I can't remember when I've seen an auction get off to such a fast and furious start.  Maybe I should say competitive!  Wow!  Thank goodness we're all friends - until it comes to bidding, of course!  We had a great attendance and more food than you can imagine. 

 

The day we tried to organize and put everything together was just as much fun.  Thanks to Carla Gay, Betty Workman, Dorothy Day, Linda Tarver, Jo Ann Collier, Sandi Bernal, Barbara Hancock, Karen Ashley, Kathy McCann, Stella Day, Debbi Moore, and Adele Atha.  Mary Schopp had planned to come until a change in plans but she still sent all of us chocolates anyway!!  Food galore! 

 

Our auctioneer, Sallyann Brown, did a fabulous job of coaxing all the money out of you she could.  The official count is $2,805.75!  Isn't that fantastic and we had so much fun doing it!!  We finally called it quits at 3:00 PM because we were all exhausted.  Last year's total was $1,800+ and we were hoping for $2,000 this year.  Gosh, maybe we should have just kept going!

 

Thanks to Barbara Hancock and Betty Workman with help from Margie Langanke for handling the Silent Auction.  Great job!  Dorothy Day, Jo Ann Collier, and Anita Young kept track of the bids while Marilyn Gore was cashier - when she wasn't trying to outbid all her friends!!!  Carla did a great job assisting Sallyann.  Thanks to Karen Ashley's husband, Larry, for all his help.  Also Buck Collier for helping transport the treasures.

 

Thanks to all of you who took the time to bring us items for the auction and supported us with your bids.  Pieces 'N Patches is truly a very special group of quilting friends willing to do whatever is necessary to make this a club where everyone feels welcome.

This post is just to let you know that I have posted the Show and Tell photo album from our October 6 meeting on the blog.  It's located in the usual spot in the far right hand column, about half-way down.  But ladies, fasten your seatbelts... I have learned how to do something NEW!  When you click on a photo in the album to enlarge it, you can see below the photo that I have added the person's name who has made the quilt!  Enjoy!

New Community Outreach Chairperson!

I'm delighted to announce that Sandi Bernal has volunteered to serve as our new Community Outreach Chair!  Thank you Sandi for your willingness to take on this responsibility.  You'll be a terrific addition to Pieces 'N Patches' Board.

Last Call for 2008 - 2009 Membership Directory

This is a reminder that membership dues of $15.00 are due by October 1 to ensure that your name and contact information are contained in the 2008 - 2009 membership directory. 

If you would like to pay your dues by mail, please go to the left hand side of the blog and scroll down to "Membership Form - Printable."  After you click there, you can print the form, fill it out and mail it, along with your payment, to our Membership Chairperson, Anita Young.  Her address is provided on the top portion of that form.
