Look at this stunner just completed by Marge Hicks!
It measures 90" x 110". The pattern is called "Eastern Holiday" and it's from the Holiday 2006 issue of The Quilter. I LOVE that purple floral fabric! Beautiful job, Marge! Thanks for sharing it with us.
Anita's son Christopher is going to be the lucky recipient of this awesome T-shirt quilt that Anita has recently finished. (But don't tell him if you see him -- it's a surprise -- she's only been able to work on it while he's been out of the house!)
All the shirts are from his school days, and all the nine patches are made in the colors of the various schools he's attended. Not only is every block sewn precisely together on the sewing machine, but every seam is also serged for a very professional and durable finish. Great job, Anita! Christopher's gonna love it!
This! Marilyn calls this cutie her "WODPP", which stands for "Whacked Off Dresden Plate Project"! Can you see them? These little blocks are only 4 1/2" square (unfinished) and I think they are ADORABLE! I love the red and yellow centers -- such a happy look. Well done, Marilyn!
As I was walking around visiting at our last meeting, I spied this cute quilt being laid out on one of the tables:
Turns out this is what former PNP member Inez Harbison is working on, along with her daughter, PNP member Marily Teeter. This quilt was featured on the cover of the Winter 2000 edition of Quilt magazine. I think it's adorable! I love the bright colors and the combination of pieced blocks with applique blocks.
And guess what else... I learned that Inez Harbison will be celebrating her 90th birthday on October 11, so I want to send her our very best wishes for a wonderful birthday! Hope your day is great, Inez!
Last month we saw a picture of Betty's design wall when it contained her "Walk in the Woods" quilt that she is machine piecing. Well, have a look at THIS beauty:
This is Betty's portable project that she is hand piecing, a beautiful "Winding Ways" pattern. Notice how she has fussy cut some of the pieces to make the designs even more interesting. This quilt is stunning, Betty!
This is the beginning of a quilt that I'm really excited about. It's from Donna's book Portable Patchwork and I've been dyin' to start it ever since I first saw it during her lecture. My teen-age granddaughters all want me to make them polka-dot quilts, and I think this is the perfect pattern to showcase the fabrics. This will be my fourth polka-dot quilt. Only five to go...yikes! :-)
My six-year-old granddaughter is in the process of making this next little quilt. It's for her new baby brother. She picked out all the fabrics, and did all the sewing by herself. She's pretty proud of it! She can't wait to get to the part where she machine-quilts it. I'm pretty proud of her!
After getting her beautiful log cabin quilt off to the longarm quilter this week, Anita has been busy working on two baby quilts for donation. The first one is done and she has sent us pictures of both the front and the back. Cute pattern and cute teddy bears, Anita! Excellent job!
Thanks to Marilyn Gore for giving us a peek at her current work in progress, a pink, brown and tan tumbler quilt. (And I see that Marilyn has a design door!)
Marilyn says the only thing in the quilt that is planned is the pink, brown and tan pattern across the rows, with each row getting off-set by one color. So far Marilyn's got three sections of four rows each done, and each row is 86" wide. It's going to be big! I love the way it's turning out! And I just can't get enough of that Civil War pink and brown.
So who's next to show us what they're working on?...
(FYI, a design floor is what you have when your design wall is covered with some other work in progress that needs to be finished. I fear that I will soon have to employ a design patio and/or a design driveway!)
I just finished the last pieced block of this king-size Civil War reproduction chain quilt. The inspiration for this quilt was a quilt that Dava Carrell brought for her presentation for the Q.U.I.L.T. meeting on June 26.
Dava's of course is the completed pink one in the other photo. (I'm planning to use a double-pink background, as well. )
While I'm here, I have to thank Marilyn Gore. The day after seeing Dava's quilt at the Q.U.I.L.T. meeting, I emailed Marilyn a picture of it telling her I wanted to make one like it. Within approximately 27 seconds, Marilyn had drafted a perfect pattern for me in Electric Quilt and sent it by return email! She's awesome! Thanks again, Marilyn!
Okay, now I'm off to go start cutting pink background squares.
