As you know, we will have our own Liz Ewing providing a "Mini Stars" workshop on May 18. The supply list for that workshop is below.
Mini Stars Supply List
This little quilt is made with four flying geese units, four corner blocks and one center block. You can make either a 2, 2.5, 3 or 4-inch finished star. This is for those who would prefer not to work with such small blocks. Since it is a small project, bring scraps and fat quarters. Be sure and bring fabrics that have enough contrast that the points of the star stand out against the background. Fabrics should be small print. Shirting works well for background fabric except when you are using Aunt Gracie, and then you will need to use a solid white or off white.
Supplies:
1. Sewing machine in good working order, with accurate quarter inch foot and adjustable stitch length.
2. Other sewing supplies that you usually use. Pins, seam ripper etc.
3. 3 ½ to 4 ½ inch Creative Grid square rulers. Be sure your rulers have ⅛ inch markings and that you are able to see through them easily.
4. Small cutting mat/ironing surface (I like the 7-inch Omnigrid ironing surface and cutting board combination.)
5. 28 mm rotary cutter (I like the smaller one but also use the 45 mm cutter)
6. Small iron -- You will be doing lots of pressing and I highly recommend the Clover Craft Iron, which is not only small but does not draw lots of electricity (120W). This is a good investment for those who do lots of classes and attend retreats.
7. Pencil for light fabric or light chalk pencil for dark fabric.
8. On some of these small projects, sometimes it is recommended to use a 70 needle and 60 wt thread, however, that is up to you. I use a size 80 needle and 50 wt thread.
9. Small scissors to snip seam allowances. I use a Ginghers 4" knife edge sewing scissor.
10. Extension cord and power strip. Small bag for trash. Ott lamp if you need extra light.
Optional: Single hole throat plate for your machine.
* I will be bring my machine, so if there is someone who just can’t bring a machine, you are welcome to use mine. Liz
